2010 EXCURSION PROGRAMME
LOCAL DEPARTURE POINTS
Hebden, Grassington, Threshfield, Skipton, Crosshills, Silsden & Keighley
Friday 26th March- DURHAM- We kick off our excursion programme with an outing to the historic City of Durham. A full day for you to explore everything Durham has to offer. Cost £24 per person.
Friday 23rd April-SILVERDALE & ARNSIDE- A new destination for us, but one were often asked about. This area is a bit of an unknown gem on the North West coast of Lancashire and we are sure you will enjoy this day out. Cost £17 pp.
Friday 14th May- WHITBY & NORTH YORKSHIRE RAILWAY- Following the success of this excursion two years ago we are going again. However this time the intention is to go to Whitby first (subject to the rail timetable being as this year) and after a few hours exploring put you on the train and collect you at Pickering for the journey home. Cost £31 pp including the train fare.
Friday 4th June- BEVERLEY & BRIDLINGTON- This excursion combines two of East Yorkshires premier tourist spots. The historic market town of Beverley with it’s magnificent cathedral, and other notable churches as well as the “North Bar” contrast with the popular resort of Bridlington. Something for everyone to enjoy. Cost £22 pp.
Tuesday 22nd June- BAKEWELL & WELL DRESSING- A chance to visit this lovely Peak District town and then on to a village to see a “well dressing”. Well dressing is very popular in Derbyshire and dates back to the Black Death. Locals celebrated the pureness of the water produced by dressing the wells, springs with flowers. A tradition that has been going for over 600 years. Cost £19 pp.
Wednesday 14th July- BARNSDALE GARDENS, OAKHAM- Made famous by the late Geoff Hamilton from BBC’s Gardeners World Barnsdale is made up of around 38 separate gardens for you to explore and enjoy. Surely something for every amateur gardener. This is also a new venue for us. Cost £33 pp including admission.
Friday 23rd July- RHS FLOWER SHOW TATTON PARK- After a successful trip in 2009 we are going again. This is the North’s answer to Chelsea and Hampton Court and is a must for anyone that appreciates anything to do with gardens. Cost £39 pp including admission.
Friday 13th August- DARLINGTON SUMMER MARKET- Yet another new destination. We have only recently become aware of this and 2010 will be it’s fourth year. Over 300 stalls to peruse at this annual extravaganza! There are side shows, live music etc to give a real festival atmosphere. Something for the entire family. Cost £18 per adult, £12 per child.
Saturday 18th September- SOUTHPORT & AIRSHOW- On this trip you have the choice of either exploring this lovely seaside resort or going down to the beach to watch the North’s biggest Air show. Cost £16 pp- an extra £5 pp for the air show.
Saturday 25th September- SCARBOROUGH & WURLITZER ORGAN CONCERT- Every year Scarborough hosts a series of concerts featuring the Wurlitzer Organ. You can either spend the whole day enjoying Scarborough or break you day up by going to the 2 hour concert in the afternoon. The concerts do sell out quite quickly so you need to book early to ensure obtaining a ticket. Cost £21 pp- an extra £6.50 for the concert.
Wednesday 13th October- YORKSHIRE DALES TOUR- We close our excursion programme with an old favourite. We take in some of the prettiest villages in the Dales as well as some of the more famous landmarks. The timing of this tour is deliberate to take in the wonderful autumnal colours the landscape has to offer. Cost £20 pp.
Friday 19th November- BURY MARKET- Ever popular, we go to one of Britain’s biggest and best indoor and outdoor market. Cost £14 pp.
Wednesday 1st December- CHATSWORTH HOUSE AT CHRISTMAS- Always popular we pay our annual visit to Chatsworth with all it’s splendour at Christmas. Cost £28 pp including admission.
Friday 3rd & Saturday 18th December- TRAFFORD CENTRE- A full day at this fantastic shopping centre where you will be able to get all your Christmas presents and more! Cost £14.50 pp.
Friday 17th December- CASTLE HOWARD AT CHRISTMAS- Growing in popularity this magnificent stately home plays host to a Christmas Market. Plenty for you to see and do. Cost £24 pp including admission.
